Biography

Major League Baseball catcher from 1923-39 (Brooklyn, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland, Washington, and Boston Red Sox); quite possibly the best educated man ever to play in the majors. He graduated from Princeton, the Sorbonne in Paris, and Columbia Law School. Moe Berg was reputed to speak 12 languages

Berg was captain and shortstop at Princeton, and turned to catching in 1927 when two regular White Sox backstops were disabled,

Berg was an OSS spy in Europe during World War II. Among his many missions, the former catcher was charged with learning all he could about Hitlerīs nuclear bomb project.
