Biography

Alex, a native of Cold Spring Harbor, New York, is currently playing soccer for the 2008 MLS Cup Champions, Columbus Crew. Alex was drafted 45th in the 2009 MLS Super Draft. His professional career has taken off to a great start. In the first fame of the Crew's 2009 season, Alex was given an opportunity to play the entire second half of the game against the Houston Dynamo. He was credited with an assist. Alex was part of the starting lineup for the Drew's second season game against FC Toronto.

In his senior season at the University of Pennsylvania, Alex led the team in assists (7) and shots (24) and was the second leading goal scorer (11). His team shared the #1 spot in the Ivy League with Dartmouth and won an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Alex was a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection and a third-team NSCAA AllNortheast Region. He finished third on Penn's all-time career assists list with 20. During summers, Alex played with the Long Island Rough Riders clocking most minutes on the field in the summer of 2007.

Prior to college, Alex was a Region I ODP team member. He was selected for the Super Y League National Camp in 2004 and was a member of the U.S. Youth National Pool in 2001. Alex was a member of the Region I Pool for five years and the Eastern NY State Team for six years. He also played on several club teams - the U-15 Albertson Red Storm Clash team that came in second in the National Finals in 2003 and the Blau Weiss Gottschee team that won the U-19 Eastern New York State Championship in 2006.

During his 4 years on the varsity soccer team at Cold Spring Harbor High, Alex was named captain two times and was a two year scholar-athlete. He was named the 2004 Class B Player of the Year as well as All-State and All-Regional. Alex was inducted into the Cold Spring Harbor High Hall of Fame in 2005.
