In 1984, Al was also selected to represent the United States in refereeing the International games in Los Angeles. He was later again selected to referee in the under 19 World games of Lacrosse in 1992. Al has served as the president of both his high school and college officials association. He was elected to serve as his district’s representative for college lacrosse officials for US Lacrosse, the US governing body of lacrosse. Al also served as chairman of the Ethics Committee for the college officials association and is the current president of the International Officials Committee for US Lacrosse. He is now involved in the selection process which chooses officials to referee in future world game competitions and international lacrosse events. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe as an assessor for US lacrosse, observing international referees from all over the world at such events as the European Lacrosse Championships, (Scotland 2000, Cardiff, Wales 2001), the German Championship in 2003, and the World Games held at Towson, Maryland in 2003.
In 1998, Al stepped down from officiating at the Varsity HS level to referee at the JHS level in order to mentor incoming lacrosse officials.
At present, Al is the instructor for the class for the new officials for the Nassau County Lacrosse Officials Association, and is also the Nassau County Rules Interpreter.
Al now assigns lacrosse officials for the US Club Lacrosse Association, the American Lacrosse League, and the College Club Association.
Since beginning his Lacrosse officiating career in 1962, Al finally hung up his stripes and whistle 43 years later, but is still very much involved in the lacrosse world.
